MARKET Develops carrier-class optical networking equipment targeted at competitive local-exchange
carriers, long-distance providers, and cable companies. Two products are currently in development, an
optical access switch and an intelligent optical terminal. Scheduled for release in second quarter 2000,
products will transmit data at speeds of 1 to 100 Mbps and will be based on company's Dynamic
Wavelength Slicing protocol, which expands capacity of an individual wavelength and allows it to be
shared by multiple users. Products' scalability will eliminate "last-mile" congestion and reduce the cost
of deploying high-bandwidth equipment. Customers will be carriers. Competes with Sycamore Networks,
Mayan Networks, and Tellium.
